Funders Collaborative Hub: Research and development of an online platform for Funders to connect and share

The Challenge

In order for more change to happen, funders need to come together to collaborate, share and pool resources. The Association of Charitable Foundations wanted to develop online tools and resources to help initiate more collaboration among funders.

My role

My role was as the project design researcher, working alongside a service designer, to research, develop and test a series of offers to improve funder collaboration.

What I did

  • Developed a set of user personas to support the team to understand and design for funder wants and needs.

  • Researched existing online offers that support funder collaboration to better understand existing gaps.

  • Interviewed funders to understand their barriers and needs in relation to collaboration.

  • Worked with a service designer to develop a set of potential offers ranging from one-off events to an online funder directory.

  • Tested offers with funders through online workshops to understand what was appealing and offputting.

  • Worked with a web developer to design a website to initiate funder collaboration.

  • Tested the website with funders via online interviews to improve the user experience.
