Young Women’s Trust: Codesigning a new online peer support programme
The Challenge
Young women, especially working class young women, young women of colour and those with disabilities, face inequalities in relation to finances, employment and unpaid work. They take home 1/5th less income than young men per year. This income gap kicks in early and grows over their lifetime. The pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis have made things worse.
Our goal was to co-design and test concepts that support young women to harness the power of peer and professional networks to navigate successfully into and around the world of work.
My role
I led the discovery research, co-design and development of a new online programme, by Young Women’s Trust, to help women harness the power of peer networks. My role was as lead researcher and project manager, working closely with the codesigners and the Young Women’s Trust team.
What I did
Onboarded and trained two young women to support the codesign of the programme.
Designed and hosted a series of online discovery workshops with young women to understand their needs and explore what a network for young women could look like.
Facilitated small group and large group discussions and ideation activities to support young women share and come up with ideas together.
Ran ongoing rapid testing and prototyping to support the development of the new programme, including designing and running two test programmes
Developed and analysed feedback surveys, workshops and interviews with young women and facilitators.
Designed and delivered training on service design and Miro to the Young Womens Trust team.
Designed templates to support the ongoing testing and learning for the Young Women’s Trust team.
